Welcome to Sensory Space!

Our therapy centre focuses on family-centred practice. This approach to supporting the development, learning, and well-being of young children with some difficulties is now recognised nationally and internationally as the best practice.

A family-centred approach has some basic principles:

Support can be most effective when it takes into account the goals, expectations, values, and everyday life of each family.
Parents know their children and their family best.
All families have strengths that can be used to improve the quality of life for everyone in the family.
Children’s well-being and development depend on the well-being of all other family members and the family as a whole.
Family well-being depends on the quality of informal support (close family and friends) and the availability of formal support services (educators and allied professionals).

Why is a family-centred approach important for children? Children learn and develop best when parents, carers, and families engage in everyday play with them. By helping families build skills, knowledge, and confidence for these interactions, you also help to create the best environment for children’s health, development, and well-being.

A family-centered approach helps to improve:

Child’s behaviour and well-being.
Family quality of life.
The value of different supports to families.
Family satisfaction with services.
Parental self-confidence.

We look forward to meeting you and your family at our therapy centre, Sensory Space. Please check out our services, and if you need anything else, please feel free to contact us.
