Exploring Inner Peace Through Dramatherapy: A Guide to Healing and Self-Discovery

Dramatherapy caters for any age, one to one or in a group setting and absolutely no previous experience of drama necessary as it is solely a modality of healing through the tool of drama.  The recipients, the therapist and the creative process all work together to achieve a sense of wholeness and well-being.  In a session, the recipients and the therapist go between the experience of being grounded in our bodies and also being open to explore ourselves through our imaginations.  With a safe environment and a trusting therapeutic relationship, Dramatherapy has the potential to allow the unconscious to become visible, known, felt, accepted and integrated into our lives.

For the best outcome for the following exercise, take some time and space for yourself where you won’t be disturbed and where you feel free to get comfortable.  It is preferable to have your eyes closed after reading the instructions and to be conscious of the breath throughout this practice.  Whatever material that might arise from this technique can be explored and worked through as part of the work of attending Dramatherapy or can be enjoyed purely as a benefit to the individual:

1. Take a breath;
2. Release the breath;
3. Take another breath into the heart space;
