Irene's Biography

With 17 years of experience as a full-time customer service agent with Aer Lingus, Irene has honed her skills in meeting and greeting clients, solving issues efficiently, and prioritising the needs of customers. Her role involved extensive office administration work, ensuring smooth operations while delivering exceptional service.

In 2013, Irene transitioned to a new role as a full-time carer for her son, who was diagnosed with autism. As a mother of three young children, she deeply understands the challenges families face in accessing essential services for their children. She has tirelessly advocated for her son, ensuring he received early intervention as soon as possible. This personal journey has given her a unique expertise in dealing with additional needs, complementing her professional experience in client relations.

In her spare time, Irene enjoys immersing herself in gardening. She has a particular passion for growing her own herbs and vegetables and propagating her own plants.

Donna's Biography

Donna is an enthusiastic and compassionate Counsellor and Art Therapist, with an extensive understanding of individuals with complex needs and issues. Donna has worked with children with additional needs, such as intellectual disabilities and autism spectrum disorder, for over five years. She has also worked with adolescents and adults presenting with a range of mental health concerns.
 
Donna is passionate in improving the wellbeing of clients, in particular, supporting them to harness their own creativity to encourage self-expression, promote healing, help resolve difficulties and build resilience in a safe and non-judgmental space. Using various mediums such as paint, crayons, pencils, collage and clay, Donna guides the client through art exercises specifically related to their needs. Creating art allows the client to explore their inner worlds, express themselves at their own pace, and helps them to understand and process what is going on for them.
 
Donna’s approach is person-centred and integrative, and she is qualified with a BA (Hons) in Integrative Counselling and Art Therapy, a diploma in Person Centered Art Psychotherapy and a certificate in Therapeutic Play Skills, is pre-accredited with the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP) and fully insured with the Psychologists Protection Society (PPS).
 
In her spare time, Donna loves walks on the beach and in the forest with her red setter Ziggy, exploring different countries, vintage shopping and being creative!

Vida's Biography

Vida is a fully accredited member of the Irish Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP) and adheres to their professional code of ethics. She works with adults using a Humanistic-Integrative approach, which considers the whole person and draws on different therapeutic models depending on each client's individual needs.

Vida holds a BA (Hons) Degree and a Diploma in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy from IICP College. She also has an MSc in Health Psychology (2013). As part of this degree, she participated in an intense research study of adults with destructive health behaviours, which she presented as part of the International Study at the CIECA Congress 2021. She holds a Level 9 Certificate in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT, 2021) and a Level 8 Certificate in Trauma-Informed Psychotherapy. In addition, Vida is a graduate of the Dublin Rape Crisis Centre, where she volunteered for several years.

She believes the therapeutic relationship between the therapist and the client is crucial. A non-judgmental, safe, and collaborative therapeutic relationship enables the client to flourish and drive toward growth and healing. By feeling heard, understood, and supported by an attentive other, we can learn to listen, understand, and support ourselves better.

Vida welcomes clients who experience anxiety, stress, anger, depression, grief, or who suffer from eating disorders, addictions, OCD, phobias, and low self-esteem, but also those who have everyday life problems, small or large. She has special interests in PTSD/CPTSD, issues related to childhood trauma/abuse, family estrangement, and sexual trauma. Vida has extensive experience working with a wide range of cultural backgrounds.
Outside work hours, Vida enjoys many outdoor activities, such as hiking, kayaking, taking long walks with her dog, and swimming in the sea.

Monika's Biography

Monika's journey began with graduating as a Nutritional Therapist from the College of Naturopathic Medicine in 2019. Since then, she has been dedicated to running her own practice, where she integrates her expertise into personalised care. As a full member of the Nutritional Therapists of Ireland and a student member of the UKICHA (UK and International Health Coaches Association), she stays abreast of the latest advancements in the field.

Niamh's Biography

When children experience trauma/life stressors it is not uncommon for their lives to unravel. Niamh’s passion is to bring healing to children that have been through traumatic/stressful experiences. She helps her clients find healthy perceptions of themselves and strengthen their relationships so they can know themselves as peaceful, complete whole and safe.

Niamh has over 2 decades of experience working with children starting out in childcare and Montessori teaching, then journeying through to a career in Neuro Diversity and has now become very passionate in her career in Play Therapy.

She knows no single approach is right for every individual and is always learning ways to tailor the sessions if needed to meet the clients needs through the use of play, art, sand, creative visualisations, creative expression, therapeutic storytelling and messy play.

She is a qualified and accredited Therapeutic Play Practitioner from NUI Galway and currently finishing her Play Therapy Diploma with Leeds University. She is registered with Play Therapy Ireland (PTIrl) and a member of the Irish Play Therapy community Association (IPTCA).

In addition to her work with individual clients, She also collaborates closely with families and caregivers to support their understanding of their child's emotional needs and to facilitate positive communication and relationships at home. She is passionate about advocating for the mental health and well-being of children and dedicated to making a meaningful difference in their lives.

Teresa's Biography

Teresa is a focused and dedicated Art Therapist with over 9 years’ experience working with children and adults through the medium of art, to support them in their journey towards better psychological, emotional, and physical health. She is practiced in using a wide range of materials such as drawing, painting, sculpture, and ceramics to support clients in expressing their emotions and to address any issues or feelings that have brought them to art therapy.

Teresa chose to study MSc Art Psychotherapy, after witnessing the benefits of creativity and art making in her role as arts facilitator when working with children and adults with intellectual disabilities.  Through her training she had the opportunity to work in a range of areas such as schools, community centres and Headway, a centre for acquired brain injuries.

After graduating in 2014 Teresa has been committed to personal development through her own creative practice, attending workshops, seminars, and webinars.  She works from a person-centred framework where she can work flexibly and adapt to each child’s needs at a pace that is comfortable to them.
 
Teresa enjoys being outdoors with her family.  At the beach digging and building in the sand and long walks through the woods.  She loves to dance and everything arts and crafts related!  

Jadwiga's Biography

Jadwiga is a Movement Therapist and has been working as a Somatic Therapist since 2017, accumulating 8 years of experience working with clients. She studied Somatic Experiencing with Peter Levine and Diane Poole Heller.

She believes that every day, our bodies communicate with us through symptoms, emotions, and feelings, and all we need to do is learn to connect, listen, and observe without judgment. According to her, all symptoms hold meaning, and the key is to re-learn the body's bio-logical language. As Peter Levine says, ‘The body has its reasons which reason cannot reason.’

In her work with clients, Jadwiga's goal is to empower people by helping them reconnect with their bodies, emotions, and inner selves to create a meaningful, joyful, and happy life.

In 2022, Jadwiga graduated from Bray Institute of Further Education college with a BTEC Higher National Diploma in Performing Arts, where she completed training in Dance Techniques, Performance, and Choreography.

She has also participated in and trained in various dance classes and workshops, including Gabrielle Roth's 5 Rhythms dance, Nava Dance by Miriam Peretz, and explored different styles from ballroom and Latin American dances to traditional Central Asian dance, devotional whirling, Persian dances, Circle, and Ritual dance.

Dancing and working with people is her life's passion.

Karel's Biography

Karel is the first person you'll meet when you arrive at Sensory Space. When you walk in, she'll be here to welcome you and answer any questions you might have.

With over 20 years of experience working in offices and public environments, she is eager to upskill to enhance her professional expertise. Currently pursuing a diploma in HR Management, Karel is an empathetic and caring individual with a genuine passion for assisting children and their families at Sensory Space.

She will be here to guide you in any way she can.

Ciarán's Biography

Ciarán is a fully qualified Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist, a fully accredited  MIACP, guided by their code of ethics. Ciarán works with individuals and couples .  He holds a Diploma and BA level 8 honours degree in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy, a level 7 Diploma in Community Drug and Alcohol Work.  Ciarán is committed to his own personal development and loves to learn more in the continuous professional development realm, attending workshops and training yearly to upskill. He believes strongly in congruence in the therapy room and the synthesis between what he does and says in the therapeutic space.
 
For Ciarán at the forefront of his practice is Carl Rogers and his person-centered therapy.   Everything else branches out from there.  Ciarán believes that having compassion, empathy, and self-love for oneself is essential and helps foster a compassionate supportive atmosphere in the therapy room.  The instillation of hope in clients is essential.  An environment free of judgement and one that is collaborative is necessary. An integrative multicultural paradigm is key to Ciarán's work in the therapy room, walking with the client side by side meeting them where they are at.
 
Ciarán enjoys spending time with his family, walking his dog, weight lifting, learning languages, travelling and watching movies.

Mairéad's Biography

Mairéad has over thirty years experience in the field of drama.  She qualified with a Master’s Degree in Dramatherapy in 2010 from Maynooth University.  

Since then, she has worked with children and adults as a therapeutic drama facilitator and a dramatherapist both in Ireland and South Africa.  She is a member of the Irish Association of Creative Arts Therapists. Mairéad also became a Reiki Master in 2006.

She has a strong interest in providing a safe and reassuring environment for those to explore, express and regulate themselves through creativity and play.

Mairéad enjoys nature, music, yoga, learning new skills and has a particular passion for animals, dance & healing.

Liann's Biography

As a dedicated mother of three, Liann brings both personal and professional expertise to her role in office administration. For over 12 years, she has been a full-time carer for her son with Autism, which has honed her organisational, communication, and advocacy skills. To further support her son and others in similar situations, Liann has completed the Special Needs Assistant (SNA) course and gained valuable experience within the education system. She has also pursued additional training focused on challenging behavior and other aspects of additional needs.

Liann’s commitment to understanding and addressing diverse needs enables her to create a welcoming and supportive environment at our front desk. Her extensive background makes her a natural fit for managing day-to-day office interactions and providing compassionate assistance to clients. In her spare time, Liann is a keen runner who finds joy in setting and achieving personal goals. Her resilience, empathy, and passion for growth make her a cherished member of our team at Sensory Space.

Marian's Biography

Marian is a dedicated music therapist with a strong belief in the transformative power of music. She graduated from the Music Therapy Master of Arts program at the University of Limerick, where she gained experience in diverse therapeutic settings, working with both children and adults. This period allowed her to hone her skills and deepen her understanding of how music can empower individuals.

Prior to earning her Master's degree, Marian graduated from Dundalk Institute of Technology with a degree in Music. Throughout her music degree, she studied music performance, composition, education, and technology.

Marian regularly performs music and enjoys composing. With many years of experience, she has taught guitar to both children and adults.

For her final Master’s thesis research, Marian focused on the therapeutic use of song writing in mental health settings. She is particularly passionate about working with children.

In addition to her musical pursuits, Marian loves nature, animals, and traveling.

Roisin's Biography

Roisin is a qualified, accredited IACAT registered, Art Psychotherapist. Roisin has almost completed an MA in Social Science with TU Dublin.

Roisin has over 10 years’ experience working with children, adolescents and adults in therapeutic and supporting roles in the following areas: Parenting when separated, Mental Health, Special Education and Residential Care. Roisin has also coordinated projects to support parents and children, who have experienced loss through separation and/or bereavement.

Being a single parent herself, Roisin, understands the complexities and demands of family life. In her practice, Roisin uses therapeutic interventions that can help support the specific needs of parents and children.

Roisin also enjoys spending quality time with her daughter, painting, walks on the beach, weekends away and gardening.

Paolo's Biography

Paolo Trenta is a dramatherapist and a psychologist registered with the Irish Association of Creative Arts Therapists (IACAT) and the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI). Paolo graduated with a Master’s degree in Dramatherapy from the National University of Ireland Maynooth and an honour degree in psychology from the Dublin Business School. For the past several years, Paolo has been working in public adult mental health and special needs services and with children, young people and their families in private practice, dealing with a range of emotional and mental health struggles.

At Sensory Space, Paolo supports both neurodivergent and non-neurodivergent children and young people with communication, social skills, emotional expression, emotional regulation, anxiety, self-esteem, self-confidence, building resilience and healthy coping skills.

In therapy, Paolo offers a safe, non-judgmental space, bringing openness, acceptance and empathy to the people he works with. He uses playful and creative non-verbal activities to engage clients, helping them to navigate the difficulties they are going through. Paolo works both on a one-to-one basis and also with groups.

Suzanne's Biography

Suzanne is an energetic and enthusiastic Speech and Language Therapist now working privately in the East Meath area.
 
She graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 1993 with a BSc. (Hons) in Clinical Speech & Language Studies. In 2009 she was awarded a MSc from Trinity College. She has worked for 30 years with the HSE as a Clinical Specialist Speech & Language Therapist. She specialises in Developmental Language Disorder (DLD). She is an Ambassador for DLD with RADLD international.
 
Suzanne is trained as a Hanen Parent and Early Educator Trainer in It Takes Two to Talk. She is also trained to facilitate parents of children on the Autistic Spectrum in More Than Words and Talkability. Suzanne is Lámh trained and she has a special interest in Childhood Apraxia of Speech & Speech Disorders.
 
She works with young children, adolescents and their families to help them reach their communication goals.
She offers assessment on both formal and informal tests and plans individualised therapy programmes for each child.
 
She is a member of IASLT and has worked on several working and implementation groups. She is fully certified with Coru.

Grace's Biography

Grace has been working in the area of Paediatric Occupational Therapy since 2007. Qualifying in 2003 from Trinity College, Dublin, Grace gained experience working with adults for 3 years until she began her paediatric career with Children’s Services in Meath. She has since worked in various paediatric teams within the HSE in both Meath and Louth before moving to Sensory Space in 2022.
Working with children with a wide range of ages and difficulties including ASD (Autism), DCD (Developmental Coordination Disorder)/Dyspraxia, learning disability, physical disability, ADHD, sensory processing difficulties has provided Grace with a wealth of experience. Grace regularly attends courses, workshops and training to ensure continued professional development and up to date knowledge. 
Grace recently completed training to be a provider of the Johansen Individualised Auditory Stimulation (JIAS) Programme, which involves listening to music specifically designed to stimulate the nerve pathways into and within the brain – in particular the areas dealing with language, sensory processing and attention.
As a busy mother of two young children, Grace understands the demands of family life and aims to provide practical advice and guidance in how to better understand and support your child’s Occupational Therapy needs. 
Grace enjoys being active and participating in various sports and sporting events. She loves crafts, travel and whenever time allows, a dip in the sea 😊

Linas's Biography

Linas is a very important member of our team. He helped us to design the sensory room, and he has some of his paintings hanging on our walls. He helps out with social skills groups and assists therapists if needed. 

He helps us tidy up toys after a busy day, hoovers floors when needed, or sometimes he just comes to Sensory Space to relax and regulate himself, and makes sure everything is running smoothly.

Linas is also very creative, has great attention to detail and is friendly, helpful and empathetic - all qualities that help make Sensory Space such an amazing place!

Jurgita's Biography

Jurgita, the Co-founder and CEO of Sensory Space, is a Registered Psychologist, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy specialist, international speaker, NLP practitioner, and parent educator/consultant. With a BA and MA in psychology and psychotherapy, Jurgita's expertise is renowned. In 2020, Jurgita, along with her colleague Agne and the entire Sensory Space team, was awarded The All-Ireland Business All–Star accreditation as a Rising Star. Currently, Sensory Space proudly holds a place in the Register of Irish Business Excellence (TRIBE).
 
As a busy mother of two children, Jurgita speaks from personal experience about the profound changes that come with self-awareness and acceptance. She believes that understanding oneself is the first step to understanding others - whether it's the people in your life, your children, parents, or friends. This self-awareness fosters inner peace, awareness, and joy, enhancing interpersonal relationships across various facets of life, from family to work and beyond.
 
Jurgita is a specialist who constantly deepens her knowledge in this field and has been working with families raising children with additional needs in Ireland for several years. She is one of the collaboration partners of the Family Carers Ireland Emergency Card scheme, which was officially launched by the Taoiseach in 2020. Together, they developed a Social Story to help people understand the Emergency Card Scheme.
 
With her experience working with families on an international level and with different nationalities, Jurgita brings a great understanding of the education system in Ireland. She shares her knowledge and work experience with her colleagues and different organisations here in Ireland and other countries. As a member of the Psychological Society of Ireland, Jurgita adheres to ethics, codes, and standards.
 
Outside of her professional endeavours, Jurgita enjoys spending time with family, friends, and her little dogs. She loves reading, painting, and spending time in nature.

Agne's Biography

Agne is a Co-Founder of SENSORY SPACE. She has moved to Ireland in 2005 since she graduated from Vilnius University, Kaunas Faculty of Humanities from her home country Lithuania where she completed Bachelor’s degree in German Language and Literature. In the hope of starting a career in Ireland she started working  in Dublin Airport where she mainly worked in sales and customer service.
 
When her first son was diagnosed with Autism,  Global Developmental Delay, Sensory Processing disorder and Anxiety Disorder, her career and personal plans changed and stopped for a while. She became interested in special needs and started studying a Master’s degree in Special and Additional Learning Needs. She has concluded her research and dissertation focusing on the social and emotional well-being of children with SEN. She believes that one of the most successful pathways to support children socially and emotionally is a collaboration of parents, educators and allied professionals.
 
In 2019, after gaining a lot of personal and professional experience about living and working with autistic children, Agne published her book ‘AUTISM: 365 different days’ which was illustrated by her son Linas, and she started her personal blog on her website  www.feelautism.com. Soon after that, together with Jurgita, she went for a new challenge – SENSORY SPACE.  
 
She is a collaboration partner with Family Carers Ireland on the Emergency Card Scheme, which was launched by Taoiseach in 2020. Together, they developed a Social Story to help people understand how to use the card.
 
As part of her approach to managing the therapy centre, Agne ensures that a positive, safe and supportive environment is provided for not only the children that attend therapies at the centre, but the whole family unit as this is an intrinsic part of  the therapeutic process.
Agne enjoys learning and studying and successfully acquired studies in Real Estate Business and Business Management.
